Thought and reflection from the interns

Reflection Paper – Srey Seangly : Internship Experience at SADP (2 Months)

Over the past two months, I have had the privilege of working as an intern at the Southeast Asian Development Program (SADP). This experience has been both educational and rewarding, contributing significantly to my personal and professional development. During my internship, I gained hands-on experience in managing SADP’s social media platforms. I was responsible for creating and scheduling daily posts, using effective hashtags to increase engagement, and translating content between Khmer and English. These tasks helped me improve my communication skills and deepen my understanding of digital outreach. In addition to social media management, I designed promotional materials such as event posters and informational leaflets. The constructive feedback I received from the SADP team played a crucial role in refining my design and communication skills.

My internship also exposed me to a wide range of global issues, including clean energy, sustainable agriculture, and gender equality. One of the most impactful moments was visiting the SADP center in Battambang, where I participated in a youth workshop about “Gender Equality”. Observing and engaging with local youth highlighted the importance of community engagement and youth empowerment. Overall, this internship has been a transformative journey. It not only enhanced my technical and communication skills but also deepened my appreciation for community development work. I’m impressed by how impactful SADP works are. They have a great approach towards youth for community development. For instance, they educate local youth about the benefits of sustainable agriculture and those youth share practical knowledge with others in their community and work together to put the knowledge into use such as making natural fertilizer. I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to SADP’s mission and look forward to applying these experiences in my future career.
